Tamar Lomidze


Tamar Lomidze (born 27.06.1969) is painter, poet, teacher and philologist from Tbilisi in Georgia. She graduated from Tbilisi State University in Georgian language and literature, art critics and painting. Tamar has participated in scholarships and research-projects at University of Oslo related to Norwegian literature and language. In 2000 she received the scholarship of the Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland.


Tamar has participated in several exhibitions. Her latest perso- nal exhibition was in Gallery Hobby, a highly recognized gallery in Tbilisi, Georgia. She presented her works (paintings and graphics) and her second collection of poems Flowering. In september 2007 Tamar was the main exhibitor at an exhibition in Gvarv, Telemark in Norway arranged by the  Artist House  at Gvarv. She participated with 19 of her works (oil on canvas). Tamars had her latest personal literary evening in December 2009 in the central library in Tbilisi, reciting her poems together with the actor Eldino Sag'aradze. Tamar is member of the Georgian Artist's Union, the Georgian Writer's Union and the associations for poets "Always a new Lyre" and "Kimerioni".







Tamar Lomidze and Svend Waage arranged Georgian - Norwegian

cultural evening 22.01.2012  in the youth center of the

Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi.


Tamar presented her new collection of poems. Editor is the

distinguished Georgian poet Tariel Kharkhelauri.


The Georgian - Norwegian “Ensembel Giorgi” was performing Georgian folk songs.


The Norwegian children-novel “Karius og Baktus” written by the famous Norwegian

author T. Egner was also presented. The novel is translated to Georgian by

Tamar and Svend, supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy

in Baku and published by the publishing house Ustari.
